Inspire Results Business Coach Job Description Apply your senior level business experience and knowledge to provide expert answers, guidance, motivation, recommendations, and support to small to mid-size business owners and senior business leaders in all areas of business. This includes strategy and vision, organizational structure, sales and marketing, operations and finance, and people and team management. The goal is to help the business grow, be highly profitable and run with high efficiency and to help the business owner or leader achieve balance between work and personal life. Guide business owners or leaders in expanding, selling, succession planning, transitioning to the next leaders, and more. Skills, Knowledge, and Roles COACHING Skills Be coachable. Approach the business owner as the expert in order to establish a coaching partnership, to work side‑by‑side with the client, and to acknowledge that the client is the expert in their own business. Extremely strong listening and questioning skills to understand what the client is saying and NOT saying; the ability to read between the lines and to translate what the client is saying into a true root cause quickly. Strong communication skills; the ability to capture, summarize, and convey succinctly and impactfully what a client has said, in order to make the invisible visible. A leadership worldview based in humble servant leadership in order to lead by coaching, mentoring, and joint discovery vs lecturing and pontificating. Strong habit of continuous learning and knowledge application; keep current on the latest business thinking because helping clients apply the best tools/knowledge is one of the benefits we provide for our clients. Provide solutions based precisely on the client’s needs and problems vs. pushing favorite, pet, or one‑size‑fits‑all solutions. Extremely strong problem identification and problem‑solving ability. A high degree of intelligence in order to retain and get to the bottom line quickly. Intelligent risk‑taking; willingness and ability to gently prod or to be brutally honest; to say the hard thing when necessary to break through a client’s limiting belief, self‑sabotage, or reluctance to change. Experience in identifying and solving the issues facing small businesses, able to offer guidance on the resolution of the issues. Strong, steady self‑confidence in who you are and what you know; ability to establish credibility and build trust rapidly. SALES Skills Be a good salesperson in order to sell yourself, close new business and retain clients. Background in marketing and selling business‑to‑business professional services is helpful. Public speaking and presentation ability; speaks well, with confidence in order to establish credibility and provide real, in‑depth help to clients and prospects. Demonstrated willingness and ability to use a needs‑based selling process in order to uncover pain points and solutions in the first meeting with a prospect. Continuously network, make connections and ask for referrals in order to generate a strong, steady stream of prospects. Turn prospects into clients. Successful experience leading salespeople because business owners often do not know how to manage their salespeople. GENERAL Skills Always on time, organized, prepared, efficient, professional, helpful, meet all promised deadlines, and provide quick turnaround on phone calls and small requests in order to model success behaviors for the client. Education and Experience Senior‑level background in all business disciplines including: Sales and Marketing Operations including HR, IT, Legal and Process Improvement ELeadership and Management Organizational structure, strategy, and vision Business ownership or Management of a business unit’s P&L Demonstrated experience is as valuable as a Masters or PhD.
