Note: This role is in-office four days per week in Columbia, SC, with the option to work remotely one day per week.

Responsibilities
  • Collect, clean, integrate, and transform large healthcare datasets, including Medicaid claims and provider files, to prepare for analysis.
  • Design and execute end-to-end analytical projects to evaluate Medicaid programs, utilization, expenditures, and provider performance.
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to governance and data quality standards.
  • Conduct statistical analyses and predictive modeling to uncover actionable results that inform decision-making.
  • Create new frameworks and tools to automate data collection, validation, and reporting.
  • Build and maintain interactive dashboards and visualizations in SAS Visual Analytics, SAS Viya, Tableau, or Power BI to clearly communicate findings.
  • Prepare and present complex results in accessible reports, presentations, and briefings tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborate closely with Knowli leadership, SCDHHS staff, and partner teams to define analytical needs, troubleshoot issues, and deliver timely insights.
  • Audit data sources to ensure accuracy, compliance with policies, and consistency across reporting systems.
  • Identify, develop, and implement methods for improving reporting efficiency and analytic workflows.
  • Contribute to data integrity, governance, and best practices in programming, documentation, and visualization.
  • Maintain current knowledge of trends, practices, and innovations in healthcare analytics and Medicaid policy.
  • Abide by HIPAA, confidentiality, and privacy laws while handling sensitive data.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Preferred: Masters degree in Data Science, Statistics, Biostatistics, Public Health, or related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience required with:
    • SQL (data extraction, transformation, and schema design)
    • SAS Studio, SAS Visual Analytics, and SAS Viya
    • Python (data wrangling, statistical libraries, and predictive modeling)
  • 35 years of professional experience conducting applied analysis with large, complex datasets.
  • Strong skills in statistical analysis, data manipulation, and healthcare data evaluation.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently scope and execute analytical projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and presentation of findings to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment while managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
Desired Skills & Competencies
  • Experience with Medicaid, Medicare, or other healthcare claims datasets.
  • Familiarity with healthcare performance measurement and quality reporting (CMS, NQF, HEDIS, etc.).
  • Knowledge of predictive analytics, risk adjustment, and program evaluation methodologies.
  • Proficiency with additional business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on translating complex data into practical recommendations.
