Job Description

Adecco is assisting a client in their search for a Proofreader . The Proofreader provides editing, proofreading, and fact-checking support for standardized assessments across various formats and subject areas. This is a fully remote, 6-month contrac t position with weekly pay at $25 an hour.

This role ensures materials adhere to program style guides and specifications while maintaining grammatical accuracy and clarity. The position involves working with proprietary test development software and collaborating with internal teams to ensure high-quality, error-free content.

Key Responsibilities:

• Proofread and edit test items and related materials for grammar, style, accuracy, and consistency

• Apply program-specific style guides and ensure compliance with test specifications

• Use proprietary software and editing tools to review and track test content

• Fact-check content and ensure adherence to fairness and editorial guidelines

• Support internal teams with grammar and style queries

• Maintain quality control checklists and records

• Collaborate in team meetings and manage workloads to meet deadlines

• Perform fairness reviews when required

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, or related field (or equivalent experience)

• 1-3 years of professional proofreading or editorial experience

• Strong command of grammar, style, and editorial standards

• Familiarity with test development or educational content is a plus

• Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with SharePoint and editing platforms preferred

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to adapt to changing processes and work independently under tight deadlines

Pay Details: $25.00 per hour
