Summary
\nGENERAL SUMMARY:
\n\nResponsible for meeting patient priority needs by assessing, participating in interdisciplinary care planning, providing and /or delegating care and evaluating patient responses and progress toward clinical outcomes. Contributes to an efficient and effective work environment through activities including professional communication and documentation, precepting and/or resourcing of others.
\n\nSupervises Licensed Practical Nurses and/or other support staff in the delivery of patient care as described in Nebraska Statute 38.
\n\nPRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
\n\nCommits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
\n\nInitiates assessment and reassessment based on the patients presenting problems/needs in accordance with Bryan Medical Centers procedures.
\n\nSynthesizes pertinent initial and ongoing patient data to identify nursing priorities for care and desired outcomes/goals.
\n\nIntegrates appropriate standards of care into the patients plan of care based on the diagnosis and patient-specific needs.
\n\nExecutes therapeutic and/or supportive interventions.
\n\nProvides education for the patient and family to meet identified patient needs according to their needs, abilities, preferences and readiness to learn.
\n\nEvaluates the patients response to and effectiveness of interventions.
\n\nEvaluates patients progress toward established outcomes.
\n\nIncorporates cultural considerations into the plan/delivery of care.
\n\nIncludes family, significant other, or identified support person in the care of the patient as appropriate.
\n\nDocuments patient care and related information according to Bryan Medical Center procedures for documentation.
\n\nProvides care in collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary team.
\n\nFacilitates patients transition to the next level of care.
\n\nActively participates in continued learning opportunities and continued self-development pertinent to the work unit and duties of the job.

\n\nREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
\n\n1. Maintains clinical competency as required for the unit of assignment including but not limited to population-specific competencies and participates in annual skill competency verification.
\n\n2. Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to nursing applications and relative practice area.
\n\n3. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.
\n\n4. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
\n\n5. Ability to delegate, provide instruction and evaluate the work of LPNs and unlicensed professional
\n\n6. Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information.
\n\n7. Ability to exercise professional judgment, courtesy and tact in daily interactions with others.
\n\n8. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with health care team members and diverse patient populations.
\n\n9. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment relevant to changing patient needs, including work with patients with acute, chronic, and complex disease processes, and those who are dying.
\n\n10. Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.
\n\nEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
\n\nCurrent Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act. Must provide evidence of certification and/or instruction for practice area as required by State or Federal standards/regulations.
\n\nOTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:
