Your summer will begin on Monday, June 15, 2026 , and will be filled with meaningful work experiences, professional development, networking opportunities, community involvement, and most importantly, have fun!

Available Roles

Customer Billing (Syracuse, NY)

Our Customer Billing team handles gas and electric billing, tariff modeling, and complex billing processes. The team is responsible for maintaining our billing system's health and updating prices. They ensure SOX compliance, perform break-fix work, and conduct root-cause analysis. While supporting various projects, including the upcoming migration to the Kraken billing system.


As a Gridtern, you will assist with process documentation by creating, documenting, and building out processes and procedures, some of which may be technical in nature. You will also develop and enhance Power BI dashboards to track metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs). In addition, you will help standardize frequently used templates to improve efficiency and consistency across the team. This role will enable you to support Analytics Management by organizing, tracking, and creating analytics for our No Bill initiative, ensuring data accuracy and relevance. This hands-on opportunity will allow you to learn more about billing operations, process improvement, and analytics while contributing to key projects.

Global Technical Training (Liverpool, NY)

Our Global Technical Training team manages National Grid's training facilities across the US and UK, supporting both our gas and electric operations. Within this team, our Design and Innovation group leads the development and quality assurance of technical training - ranging from instructor-led courses to eLearning's and assessments. This team is committed to transforming the design and delivery of learning by leveraging innovation and emerging trends to create meaningful learning experiences for everyone. Their goal is to ensure that all employees have the opportunity to grow and achieve their full potential.

As a Gridtern, you will play an active role in this mission. Over the summer, you will support instructional design efforts for both eLearning and instructor-led training, assist in developing course materials, assessments/ learning tools, and contribute to research on emerging learning technologies and trends. You will also take part in quality assurance reviews, collaborate with subject matter experts and instructional designers, and help analyze learner feedback and performance data - all with the aim of improving training effectiveness and creating lasting impact.

NY Container Network Interface (CNI) Electric Applications (Liverpool, NY)

Our NY Container Network Interface (CNI) Electric Application - Energy Management System (EMS) team is responsible for managing software updates, performing data updates, ensuring schematic diagrams reflect real-world conditions, and managing real-time data acquisition from field equipment. This team works closely with control rooms to make sure advanced applications used for contingency analysis and grid health are always fully functional, allowing National Grid to keep power flowing safely and efficiently. Their work is guided by compliance with bulk electric system protection standards (NERC-CIP), which ensure secure grid performance.


As a Gridtern, you will play an important role in a major project to replace the current EMS platforms at National Grid. You will have the chance to dig into the data, identify inconsistencies, remove outdated obsolete information, update schematic displays, verify communication records, and review calculations to ensure accuracy. Along the way, you'll gain firsthand experience with critical energy management systems and develop your technical and analytical skills. You will also see firsthand how this team supports the reliable operation of the electric grid while learning from experienced professionals.

NY SHE, Safety Policies and Programs (Syracuse, NY)

Our New York Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) team, specifically the Safety Policies and Programs group, oversees occupational safety within our NY Business Unit. This team ensures the timely and accurate delivery of information in adaptable formats, empowering business leaders and stakeholders to make informed decisions that drive safety performance and reduce incidents throughout the organization. As they collect, analyze, and transform safety data into accurate, digestible insights that highlight key trends, metrics, and drivers, they help to enable stakeholders to take greater action. By supporting with clear dashboards, key performance indicators (KPIs), and effective storytelling of the data across multiple platforms and communication channels, they help to provide governance and the oversight needed to further strengthen safety programs.

As a Gridtern, you will have the chance to gain practical experience in analytics and dashboard development, including monthly reporting, ad-hoc data requests, and improvements to tools like our Injury-ATI dashboard and in-depth trend analyses. You will also apply advanced techniques such as time-series forecasting and gain exposure to platforms like PowerBI, Snowflake, and Cority. By the end of your internship, you will have a deeper understanding of how to use real-world data to influence safety practices, enhance decision-making, and make a significant impact on workplace safety overall.

Revenue Assurance (Syracuse, NY)

Our Revenue Assurance team is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of billing processes, managing unbilled revenue, and overseeing compliance with regulatory requirements. This team plays a critical role in minimizing financial risks by implementing robust controls and processes that ensure timely and accurate billing for our customers. In support of National Grid's mission, they focus on enhancing operational efficiency, safeguarding revenue streams, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization. By collaborating with various stakeholders, they ensure that our billing practices align with industry standards and regulatory obligations, ultimately fostering trust and satisfaction amongst our customers.

As a Gridtern, you will support this team in ensuring accurate revenue reporting, minimizing revenue leakage, and identifying opportunities for process improvement. This role will provide you with hands-on experience in investigating cases, analyzing data, conducting audits, and implementing corrective actions to maintain accuracy and compliance. Additionally, you will gain exposure to different workstreams, learning how to adapt to evolving business needs while contributing to the overall success of the team.

Safety Health and Environment Medical (Syracuse, NY)

Our Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) Medical team is responsible for scheduling employees for their DOT, Hearing, and FIT exams, while ensuring a safe and efficient return to work. Throughout the year, the team conducts educational seminars on health topics to keep employees informed about the latest medical guidance. They also ensure compliance with the required field workers' exams and support office employees returning after illness, all while overseeing safety across the entire National Grid organization.


As a Gridtern, you will help the team implement a scheduling system for exams across the organization's field workforce. This role will give you hands-on experience in compliance reporting for DOTs, FIT testing, and Hearing Conservation; while also providing insight into how the SHE Medical team supports employee health and safety.

  • Availability to start on the program start date, June 15, 2026 , and work full-time (40 hours a week) for the duration of the summer
  • Must be registered as a full-time student and continue your education full-time through the Fall 2026 semester
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's, or Master's degree
  • Majoring in Engineering, Psychology, Information Technology, Computer Science, Communications, Engineering, Medical Operations, Data Analytics, Statistics, Education, Business Administration, Business Intelligence, Accounting, Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or related majors.
  • Have accumulated 18 or more credits and be at least 18 years of age
