The University of Richmond Department of Mathematics and Statistics invites applications for the position of Teaching Faculty of Mathematics: Director of Integrated Math Skills, beginning in the 2026-2027 academic year. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track, continuing position with benefits. The position includes opportunities for promotion to Senior Teaching Faculty after successful completion of a probationary period and triennial review. Applicants must have a doctoral degree in mathematics or similar field prior to the start date as well as experience in undergraduate teaching.
We seek a colleague who shares our commitment to student-centered, inclusive undergraduate education. The ideal candidate will also have an interest in supporting student professional development and career services. Our department emphasizes making mathematics accessible to all students and values innovation in teaching, faculty collaboration, cross-disciplinary connections, and inclusive pedagogical practices.
The successful candidate will teach seven courses per academic year, primarily in the calculus sequence, with opportunities to develop courses in the candidate's specialty. Responsibilities may also include contributing to the mathematics portion of our SMART program, a part of the Integrative Inclusive Science () initiative. Directorship responsibilities will include coordinating career skills programming, connecting students with research opportunities, internships, and alumni networks, and assisting with periodic assessment of math courses that contribute to Integrated Focus Areas () in the general education curriculum. These contributions will support the department's investment in the Arts & Sciences general education curriculum and connect students to career pathways in mathematics. There will also be opportunities to mentor undergraduate research.
Beyond core responsibilities, teaching faculty are expected to serve on department and university committees and are encouraged to participate in campus-wide initiatives supporting our strategic priorities of academic excellence, belonging and community, and experiential learning. New faculty are paired with mentors and supported by the Faculty Hub (), which provides personalized consultations and workshops for teaching excellence and professional development.
